Fit and ready to become a grandparent?

From lifting a growing grandchild to running after a toddler, grandparents are often an essential part of modern family life. With the rising cost of childcare, more families are relying on grandparents to lend a hand—but what is the physical cost to you?

The Grandparent MOT is a physiotherapy programme designed to assess your strength, mobility, agility and balance, while addressing those “it’s just old age” aches and pains.

Grandparenting can be surprisingly demanding. Lifting and carrying a heavy (albeit very charming!) baby, getting up and down from floor level, avoiding the trip hazards of discarded toys or chasing a determined toddler all require strength, balance and mobility.

As families are increasingly having children later in life, the age of becoming a grandparent is rising too. This means more people are entering their “working grandparent” years at an age when maintaining strength, fitness and confidence is more important than ever. So, are you physically prepared for the demands of grandparenting?

You don’t need to become an athlete. But building strength, maintaining mobility and working on balance can make everyday tasks easier — and help you enjoy time with your grandchildren without feeling limited by your body.

What does the 1hour Grandparent MOT include:

·        Massage, mobilisations and acupuncture for those aches and pains

·        Assessment of both static and dynamic balance

·        Strength programmes to help you feel fitter and more confident.

Because being a grandparent shouldn’t mean simply keeping up with them — the real question is, can they keep up with you?
